SBRMA College Residency 2007
College Residency - The Program
The SBRMA is currently seeking applicants for the 2007 Summer Studio Residency Program. This is a unique opportunity for area college artists to engage in a challenging environment of self-direction. Admitted students are awarded a workspace and a schedule of critiques, discussions, and workshops. In return, participants are expected to provide 5 hrs a week of volunteer service to the museum over the course of the 12-week program. Benefits of the program include:
*Access to a highly intense artistic peer group
*Exposure to the museum, its collections, exhibitions and programming
*Self-directed working time
*The ability to share a variety of individual college/university/art
school experiences with other young artists
*The ability for students to take the experience of the residency
program and museum back to their respective art programs
It is the expectation of the museum that participants will take full advantage of this unique opportunity by utilizing their access to the studio space and programming to its fullest, leaving the program with a greater understanding of their role as artists and cultural producers within the community-at-large. Deadline for applicants is April 20, 2007.
For more information interested candidates can call the SBRMA at 574-235-9102.
